Why do so Many Teenagers Have Braces or Clear Aligners?

It might seem like every teenager has braces or clear aligners. That’s really because the teenage years are a great time to start orthodontic treatment for many patients. Most of the permanent teeth are usually in place, including the second permanent molars, and we’re able to get a really clear picture of any orthodontic issues, such as crowding, spacing or an overbite. Since teenagers are still developing and have high metabolisms, we can work with their growth spurts to more easily manipulate their jaws and teeth for lasting, beautiful results.

Teen-Friendly Options

While teens may or may not love the idea of the braces, the good news is orthodontic treatment has come a long way. Our custom metal braces consist of smaller, more comfortable brackets and thin, lightweight wires. Teens can choose colorful elastics to go with them and show off their personality. We also offer custom clear braces that are much less noticeable. Or, if your teen doesn’t want braces at all, we’re a leading provider of both Clarity™ Aligners™ and Invisalign® Teen in San Diego and Rancho Santa Fe.
